I met Katie at the Stone Bridge Farm bridal fair in September. She and Patrick were the winners of my drawing for a free engagement session. I was so excited when they wanted to go ahead and shoot now, even though their wedding isn’t until August of 2012. We met in Decatur for their engagement portraits session. We began at the State Bank Building, which tends to be the “go to” place in Decatur for all things photography! Needless to say, there was another local photographer there shooting a family session, but there was plenty of space for us to play.
We left there and made it to the river before the sun set where I was able to play with some off camera flash techniques. I love how the sky “pops” when using light in this way.
I had a blast getting to know Katie and Patrick and hear about some of their wedding plans. Lord willing, they will allow me to shoot their wedding images and you’ll be able to see more of them in the coming year. Keep you fingers crossed for me!
